Orange awarded swedish UMTS licence

Orange Sweden has been awarded UMTS licence. Schibsted ASA has earlier announced its ambition to take a leading role in the development of services to be delivered through the broadband networks that will be built in all Nordic countries over the next years.

In line with this ambition Schibsted has joined forces with the Orange/France Telecom UMTS consortium bidding for one of the licenses to be awarded in Sweden.

Schibsted is pleased to participate in the Orange consortium, and believes that the combined experience and dedication of Orange, France Telecom, Skanska, NTL Inc. and Bredbandsbolaget to building the new generation of mobile communications products and services, coupled with Schibsted and other partners’ complementary contributions, make this consortium well positioned to succeed in this market.

Schibsted’s ownership share in the consortium will be 2 % and this constitutes an equity investment of up to approx. NOK 200 million over 5 years.
