Duie Pyle (Pyle), the premier provider of asset and non-asset based transportation and supply chain solutions in the Northeast, has been selected as a recipient of both the Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE) Green Supply Chain Award, as well as the Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) Top Green Fleets Award this year for its sustainable supply chain solutions. Both annual lists recognize those working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains.
Pyle has dedicated a great deal of its resources to incorporating green and sustainable practices throughout its fleet, facilities and operations. This year, Pyle opened the doors to its newest facility in the Bronx – its first terminal to use 100 percent LED lights both inside and out. To foster sustainability throughout its fleet, Pyle equipped its trucks with cruise control that’s integrated with the Forward-Looking Collision System, which allows trucks to perform smooth speed transitions to save fuel. Pyle also helps its customers reduce their carbon footprint through the use of self-inflating tires, which maintain proper air pressure and reduce fossil fuel waste. Additionally, Pyle invested in aerodynamic skirts and sleeper cabs equipped with anti-idling auxiliary power units on all of its long-haul trailers. Pyle’s fleet consists of trucks with 11L and 13L engines designed to carry more freight at a higher fuel efficiency and also governs trucks to a maximum speed of 68 mph to reduce waste. Furthermore, the company recycles all of the oil used in its trucks and equipment, as well as recycles 80 percent of the water used when washing the trucks.
