Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation Joins Ringling College Masterpiece Society

The Barancik Foundation Announces Full-Tuition Masterpiece Scholarship

Sarasota, FL, June 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

Ringling College of Art and Design and Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation are pleased to announce the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation Masterpiece Scholarship. With this million dollar gift, the Barancik Foundation has become the fourth Masterpiece donor to the College and joins the Ringling College Masterpiece Society.

The recipients of the Barancik Foundation Masterpiece Scholarship will receive full tuition support for all four years of study at Ringling College. One student every four years will receive the award.

“Since its establishment in 2014, the Barancik Foundation has believed in the power of philanthropy to change lives. The Barancik family knows that nothing changes lives more than education and are pleased that this scholarship gives a student a chance, who otherwise wouldn’t be able, to attend Ringling and fulfill their life’s passion, ” said Teri A Hansen, President and CEO of the Barancik Foundation.

The Masterpiece Scholarship was introduced in 2017 as the brainchild of Ringling College Trustee Michael Klein and his wife, Marcy, in response to the growing number of students in need of financial assistance to attend and complete study at Ringling College. The goal of the effort is to create an endowment large enough to support the full tuition of a student who has substantial financial need to attend and complete all four years of study at Ringling College.

In some cases, scholarships like these can make or break a student’s ability to pursue their passion, especially at a specialized and elite institution, such as Ringling College. “Currently over 90% of Ringling College students are on some form of financial aid,” explains Dr. Larry R. Thompson, President of Ringling College. “Because of donors like the Barancik Foundation contributing to the Masterpiece Scholarship program, we can connect extremely talented students who could not otherwise afford to attend Ringling College with the art and design education they deserve. And, at the end of the day, when our students excel, it lifts up and improves the entire Sarasota/Manatee community.”

The Barancik Foundation Masterpiece Scholarship is just one of the many grants and initiatives offered by the Barancik Foundation that support learning initiatives in the region. Through these programs and grants, local teachers and students receive support and resources to realize their educational vision and expand their impact on the community.
