In Just Three Weeks, Interest in California Rifle & Pistol Association Grows Substantially

Despite media narrative of ‘more gun control now,’ California’s oldest pro-Second Amendment group gains new members at record pace

FULLERTON, Calif., March 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In just a few short weeks following the tragedy in Florida, the hotly-contested debate about what’s next continues to grow. But while the media pushes a narrative that Americans simply want more gun control now, numbers suggest the alternative.

“Just in the past three weeks, requests to become a member of the California Rifle & Pistol Association have skyrocketed – we’ve seen an increase in memberships by 400%,” said Rick Travis, Executive Director of CRPA. “Californians are truly concerned about how much longer they’ll be able to protect their homes and families and to shoot for sport without that right taken away,” he continued.

In addition to being a Second Amendment advocacy group, CRPA also runs numerous safety programs and has piqued the interest of many groups across the state, including church groups from many faiths. CRPA recently hosted a safety class for faith leaders worried about attacks on their houses of worship. The packed seminar brought together more than 60 faith leaders from Southern California’s churches, synagogues, and faith communities.

“Because CRPA is more than just an advocacy group, people are flocking to us to learn how they can keep themselves safe in our ever-changing climate,” Travis said. “Since our programs result in action – not just talk – it’s no doubt why people are looking to CRPA for leadership,” he continued.

Founded in 1875, the California Rifle & Pistol Association provides training in the safe, responsible, and enjoyable use of firearms; sanctions competitive shooting state championships; and fights for the constitutional right to keep and bear arms for those who choose to own a gun in California for sport, hunting, or self-defense.
