BrightPoint Americas Announces Logistic Services Agreement With Lytro, Maker of the World's First Consumer Light Field Camera

INDIANAPOLIS, March 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brightpoint, Inc. ("BrightPoint") (Nasdaq:CELL), a global leader in providing device lifecycle services to the wireless industry, today announced that its subsidiary, Brightpoint North America L.P. ("BrightPoint Americas"), has entered into a logistic services agreement with Lytro, Inc. ("Lytro"), maker of the world's first consumer light field camera. Under the terms of the agreement, BrightPoint Americas will provide fulfillment and logistic services to support Lytro.

The Lytro Light Field Camera enables a photographer to take a picture and refocus it later on a computer or the camera's touchscreen. Unlike conventional cameras, Lytro cameras capture the entire light field which includes the direction of light. The ability to capture that additional information, along with Lytro's image processing software, is what allows the user to refocus the picture after the fact. The Lytro camera recently won top prize in the annual Last Gadget Standing competition at CES.

"BrightPoint has a world-class reputation for excellence in logistic and aftermarket services," stated Vanita Wells, Vice President Customer Operations, Lytro. "We look forward to leveraging that experience as the Lytro Light Field Camera enters the market and gains traction in the consumer camera industry."

"We are excited to leverage our more than 20-year history of supply chain expertise, our physical and technical infrastructure, and our efficient, flexible and scalable services to support Lytro," stated J. Mark Howell, BrightPoint's President Americas. "As an industry leader in device lifecycle management for high value consumer electronics, we view this consumer high tech vertical as a natural extension of our core service offerings."
