Eagle Star Minerals Appoints New Chief Operating Officer and a Project Manager for Ruth Phosphate Project


VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 30, 2011) - Eagle Star Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:EGE)(PINK SHEETS:ELGSF)(FRANKFURT:E6R) ("Eagle Star" or "the Company") – is pleased to announce the appointment of Jose Carlos Polonia (currently senior advisor to the Company's Advisory Board) as its new Chief Operating Officer, and the addition of Carlos Augusto Sena de Sá as Project Manager for the newly-acquired Ruth Phosphate Project, in the state of Piaui, Brazil.

With nearly 40 years of Brazilian geological experience, Mr. Polonia brings his extensive knowledge and expertise in developing various mining projects through multiple stages to his new role as Chief Operating Officer of Eagle Star. Mr. Polonia began his career with a solid 30 year tenure for Brazilian mining giant Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (also known as CVRD or "Vale"), beginning as a Geologist in Vale's Iron Ore Development Department - Itabira, Minas Gerais State in 1972. He then moved on to serve Vale in various management roles, including coordinator of a group that studied, evaluated and devised methods to extract gold from iron deposits.

With the first half of his career devoted to research and studies, Mr. Polonia's second half was focused on hands-on management of mining operations. This included overseeing the construction of gold concentration plant (and facilities) and later on becoming Mining Manager of the Department of Gold Production of the company's Caeté project, MG. While performing the latter assignment, Mr. Polonia oversaw costs and performance relating to the production of 300,000 tons/year of ROM and 700kg/gold. Mr. Polonia concluded his time with Vale as a Senior Geologist of the Acquisition Department before moving on to help educate the next generation of geologists. Since moving on from Vale, Mr. Polonia has served as a consultant for multiple large mining companies including evaluating iron ore projects for mining giant BHP Billiton and an advisory role for Nippon Steel.

Carlos Augusto Sena de Sá

With 30 years of diverse Brazilian geological experience, Carlos Augusto Sena de Sá brings to Eagle Star a specialized knowledge pertaining to locating and developing agromineral deposits. Mr. Sena de Sá's geological features roles aligned with mining giants such as CVRD (or "Vale"), BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, DuPont and Kinross, as well as Brazauro Resources Corp. (Jaguar Resources), Talon Metals Corp. and Paranapanema Group, TVX/CNM (merged by Kinross), among others. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Sena de Sá has been involved in all levels of project development, from research and assessment of projects to actual mining.

On top of acquiring specific expertise in minerals used for agricultural development, Mr. Sena de Sá's expertise expands further than agrominerals, including exploration of base metals, titanium and gold. From 1995 to 1998, his work led to the discovery of a gold deposit at Volta Grande do Xingu, Pará, with resources of 1.7 Moz Au (currently controlled by Verena Minerals). In later years, his advisory guidance led to discovery of phosphorous bauxite and limestone deposits in São Luís and to discovery of titanium, gold and tin deposits on the coasts of Pará, Maranhão, and Tapajós (PA). Most recently in 2010, Mr. Sena de Sá advised Elabore Consultoria S/S in investigating potential targets for agromineral deposits in the Southeastern and Central Western regions of Brazil. The activity indicated four deposits of hundreds of million of tonnes of rocks suitable for this activity.

Eagle Star's new additions to the management team are being implemented to further aid the development and progress of both of the Company's key Brazilian mineral operations; namely the newly-acquired Ruth Phosphate Project and high-potential Angico Iron Ore Project, as well to as to seek and acquire new high-potential projects within Brazil.

At this time, Eagle Star has made no other organizational or structure changes in conjunction with this announcement.
