Top 20 Accounting Association UC&CS Global Signs United Nations ISDR Private Sector Commitment Following Third Session of Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction


MEXICO CITY--(Marketwire - Jun 30, 2011) - UC&CS Global announced today that Company President Mauricio Mobarak has signed the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction's "Statement of Commitment by the Private Sector for Disaster Prevention, Resilience and Risk Reduction."

The UNISDR's statement of commitment was released by the Private Sector Advisory Group in conjunction with the United Nations Third Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction held in Geneva, Switzerland May 9-13, 2011. The advisory group is comprised of leaders from various industries committed to raising awareness on the importance of increased investment and planning efforts between the private and public sector to minimize economic disruptions and protect communities from disasters.

The commitment is focused on:

  • Promotion and development of public private partnerships
  • Leveraging private sector expertise and strengths
  • Fostering a collaborative exchange and dissemination of data
  • Supporting national and local risk assessment
  • Supporting the development and strengthening of national and local laws, regulations, policies and programs.

UC&CS, headquartered in Mexico City and New York City, was founded 11 years ago with a focus on becoming a global provider of business consulting services including accounting, auditing and tax, legal and business advisory services. UC&CS was introduced to UNISDR's efforts to encourage private sector participation after UNISDR Private Sector Advisory Group member Philip Verges, founder of the Small Equity Initiative, presented on public private partnerships (PPP) to reduce disaster risk at the UC&CS Third Conference of Central and South America Regions last month in Colombia.
