Vilnius, Lithuania, 2011-06-27 08:00 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- City Service is strengthening operations in the field of optimising energy consumption and using renewable resources. Under a contract finalised with Palink, the company started the implementation of an energy resource optimisation project that covers most Iki shopping centres.
‘The optimised lighting systems at 155 Iki shops will help save 30 percent of electrical power and increase the lighting of the shopping centres by 20 to 30 percent’, Gytis Janušauskas, head of the Novelties and Energy Efficiency Group of City Service, said.
By June of this year, City Service specialists will replace in Iki shopping centres almost 40,000 traditional lamps with new technology lamps.
This step will enable the consumption of electrical power to be reduced by approximately 16,000 kilowatt/hours per day. Furthermore, the emission of carbon dioxide due to the production of electrical power will decrease by over 3,500 tonnes per year.
With a view to finding the most efficient technical solution, City Service specialists have dedicated 6 months to the testing of various lighting technologies, measurements, and applied research at one of Iki shopping centre.
‘This solution, which helps save energy costs and is environmentally friendly, when implemented at shopping centres, will pay for itself in less than 1 year’, Mr Janušauskas said.
According to him, the service to increase the efficiency of the consumption of energy resources is of great relevance to companies managing shopping centres, warehouses, factories, and business centres. ‘Our solutions allow increasing the efficiency of not only electrical power consumption but also thermal energy and gas consumption’, Mr Janušauskas added.
