Planet-Bordeaux.com Brings the World of Bordeaux to the U.S.

Bordeaux & Bordeaux Superieur Winemakers Launch New English-Language Website & Logo

BORDEAUX, FRANCE--(Marketwire - February 7, 2011) - Planet Bordeaux, a U.S. marketing program to promote the wines of the regional appellations of Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur, announced the launch of its vivid, revamped logo and English-language website, Planet-Bordeaux.com. The website is a resource for American wine trade and consumers to interact in a fresh and accessible way with the wines, people, places and lifestyle that make Bordeaux the world's wine capital.

Designed by Balzac Communications and Vin'Animus, the new site is based on the three bright, convivial colors of the refreshed Planet Bordeaux logo, which consists of fun sketches of three wine glasses representing the three colors of wine produced in the region: red, of course, but also white (dry, sweet and sparkling), and rosé (and the deeper-hued clairet). The glasses are perched on top of a sky-blue planet that has a map of France marked with the location of Bordeaux.

"The idea of the new site is to bring together information that often gets lost in tasting notes -- the stories behind the wine, the craftsmanship, the variety, the value for money -- and get it into the hands of young Americans who are just discovering wine and think it's necessary to spend a fortune on a good bottle of Bordeaux," explains Bernard Farges, president of the Planet Bordeaux winemakers' association. "The regional appellations cover the entire Bordeaux wine region, represent 55% of wines produced, are the most exported, and most sell for under $25 retail in the United States."

The aim of Planet-Bordeaux.com is to share the art de vivre of Bordeaux, but also to connect and keep in stride with today's American lifestyle, and budget. The Bordeaux in the U.S.A. section centralizes information on where to enjoy, learn, and buy Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur wines, whereas the Bordeaux Lifestyle section contains suggestions on how to add a dash of Bordeaux to your life, including food and wine pairing suggestions and recipes. Bordeaux Wines 101 is a primer on Bordeaux appellations, blends, and colors -- the "ABCs," along with how to read a label, how to choose a wine, how to pair wine with food, and how to serve Bordeaux wines. The site also contains links to the blog written by Jana Kravitz, a native New Yorker, titled Jana's Bordeaux - Wine Country Living Moments, the Planet Bordeaux Facebook page and other sites, such as the Bordeaux Wine Bureau's www.enjoybordeaux.com.

To celebrate the launch of Planet-Bordeaux.com, the Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur Winemakers will host a live Twitter tasting on Friday, March 18, at 7 PM EST (4 PM PST). The virtual Twitter tasting will take place on TasteLive.com, an online wine tasting and social networking platform. Users can log into www.tastelive.com/planetbordeaux, open a bottle of Bordeaux or Bordeaux Supérieur wine and interact in real time with other online tasters, including producers, trade, bloggers and other Bordeaux wine enthusiasts.
