Rovi Doubles Number of European Content Providers for TotalGuide

New Content Relationships Expand Scope of Next Generation Media Guide to 21 Countries in Europe

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept. 10, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rovi Corporation (Nasdaq:ROVI) today announced at the IBC Conference 2010 in Amsterdam, that it has established new relationships with more than 19 European content providers, growing the number of services eligible to deliver their content through TotalGuide™ in Europe to more than 34 providers. Earlier this year at CES 2010, Rovi announced its collaboration with 15 content providers for TotalGuide in Europe.

These additional relationships increase the total number of TV applications eligible to be developed for TotalGuide to more than 60 applications for TV in UK, France and Germany - and more than 260 across 21 countries, with various content providers touching multiple localities.

Among the newly announced eligible content providers is the popular online movie service LOVEFiLM. "LOVEFiLM's goal is to deliver our content and service to as many consumers as possible on their platform of choice. TotalGuide provides us with yet another way to maintain our relationship with the consumer through its new services portal, while also enabling us to present the LOVEFiLM service as a seamless part of their entertainment experience," said Lesley MacKenzie, LOVEFiLM's group digital director.

"Europe is making strides towards building a world of entertainment where consumers will have greater access to content from many sources, including the Internet, and on their choice of devices," said Corey Ferengul, executive vice president of product management and marketing for Rovi Corporation.  "Our success in establishing relationships with content leaders in Europe speaks to the market's willingness to explore new ways to make it easier for consumers to discover entertainment. We believe TotalGuide can be the link that brings content and services together for consumers."

TotalGuide is a next generation media guide that enables consumers to search, browse and get recommendations for content from broadcast/terrestrial providers, internet services, and personal content libraries via a single user interface. Its navigation is based on a "six-degrees" discovery experience using in-depth entertainment data from Rovi that enables viewers to jump from one piece of content to another using relational data, such as cast and credits details.

With this announcement, Rovi signals its plans for TotalGuide to include localized content for the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Portugal, Greece and Turkey.
