Unlock the Secret of The Hidden Scroll -- New Book Tells a Gripping Thriller Inspired by Real Historical Events

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 10, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Many legends tell the story of the golden candelabra, the golden Ark of the Covenant and other religious vessels used during the performance of priestly ceremonies in the Temple. These legends gave birth to the famous Hollywood production of the Raiders of the Lost Ark. In his new book, The Hidden Scroll, author A.Y. Anouchi explores another legend-the golden candelabra also known as the Menorah.

Inspired by the historical events that occurred in 70 CE, The Hidden Scroll follows an archaeology professor, Avner Amram, in his impassioned search for ancient parchments and artifacts from the time of the second Temple of Jerusalem and the revolt of the Maccabees. His journey is made more difficult by a radical Islamist organization dedicated to undermining the Jewish claim to the land of Israel. From murders, kidnappings, suicide bombers and forged parchments, Amram must keep his wits about him if he is to survive and uncover the truth about history.

Whether the Romans took the Jerusalem Menorah to Rome, or the defenders of the city hid it from the Romans, is still a puzzle that historians have not been able to determine with certainty. It is this fascinating premise and the possibilities that this novel explores. To reach the readers who are not familiar with Jewish history, Anouchi has interwoven historical events and fiction into a gripping thriller that will hook them from the first page until the last.

Most will be familiar with the names of many historical figures such as Judah the Maccabee, the Hasmonaean queen Shlom-Zion, Rabbi Akiva, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, and Menachem Begin. The author took the liberty of molding the characters to fit into the plot. He also includes helpful notes that outline the known facts and historical background around which the novel was written. With exciting twists and a tightly woven story, The Hidden Scroll is a suspenseful thriller that has significant historical and archaeological information.
