Kesko's June sales dropped by 10.1%

The Kesko Group's sales from continuing operations in June 2009
totalled €740.1 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 10.1%
compared with the previous year. In January-June the sales totalled
€4,218.4 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.8%.

In the food trade, sales in June were €335.8 million, an increase of
4.0%. Sales to the K-food store chains were up 6.6%.

In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in June were €112.9
million, down 2.5%. Anttila's sales were €35.8 million, down 6.1%.
The sales of K-citymarket's home and speciality goods trade were
€45.3 million, up 3.7%.

In the building and home improvement trade, sales in June were €225.2
million, a decrease of 17.4%. Sales in Finland were down 13.1%. Sales
in foreign countries decreased by 20.5% in terms of euros and by
12.5% in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic countries, sales
were down 31.8%. In Russia, sales dropped by 10.5% in terms of euros,
but increased by 6.3% in terms of the local currency.

In the car and machinery trade, VV-Auto's sales in June were €45.9
million, which is down by 36.9% compared with the previous year. In
addition to the market downturn in the car trade, sales performance
was affected by the car tax act which came into force in April,
because of which car tax levied on cars after 1 April 2009 is not
included in the sales figures. In Finland, new registrations of
passenger cars dropped by 35.0% in June. Konekesko's sales in June
were €34.0 million, down 37.8%. Sales decreased by 31.7% in Finland
and by 43.2% abroad.

With effect from 1 January 2009, the Kesko Group's reportable
segments are the food trade, the home and speciality goods trade, the
building and home improvement trade, and the car and machinery trade
(stock exchange release on 12 December 2008).

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the
previous year.

In June 2009, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale was 21,
which is one more than in June 2008. The total number of selling days
in January-June was three less than in the previous year. The number
of retail selling days in June was 28, which is the same as in the
previous year. The total number of retail selling days in
January-June was four less than in the previous year.
