Metro International S.A. ("Metro" or the "Company"), the world's largest international newspaper, today announced that four members of the Company's senior management have decided to leave Metro within the last weeks. Mr. Jan Sjöwall (Senior Vice President of Corporate Development), Mr. Steve Nylund (Executive Vice President - Head of Corporate Development), Mr. Sakari Pitkänen (Vice President of Metro Interactive) and Mr. Robert Patterson (Executive Vice President) have all decided to leave Metro for individual reasons. Mr. Jan Sjöwall has served a career within the Kinnevik Group since 1988 where he was the founder and CEO for a wealth of companies. Mr. Sjöwall was the first Chief Executive Officer of Metro International and has throughout his tenure with Metro worked with corporate development and new markets for the Company. Mr. Steve Nylund has worked for the Kinnevik Group since 1993 and held various positions at the Modern Times Group prior to joining Metro in year 2000. Mr. Sakari Pitkänen joined Metro in 1995 and was earlier this year appointed Vice President of Metro Interactive. Prior to that, Mr. Pitkänen held the position of Metro's Global Editor-in-Chief. Mr. Robert Patterson joined Metro in year 2001 as Chief Financial Officer and has since year 2007 worked as Executive Vice President overlooking Metro's operations in Latin America, US, Russia and Asia. As a result of these resignations, Mr. Christian Toksvig, Vice President of Corporate Development, has been appointed Executive Vice President and will be a part of Metro's Executive Management Team. Mr. Toksvig will be responsible for existing and new business in Asia, Russia, and for the Global Sales department in London. Before joining Metro International last year, Mr. Toksvig was responsible for the international rollout of the lifestyle magazine, OK!, and served as its CEO in North America.
