A Doctor Who Lives Life to the Fullest -- Dr. Ralph DePalma Shares Inspiring Stories So Others May Follow

MCLEAN, Va., June 22, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A young man's struggles in his search for meaning in life led him to become the dedicated professional that he is today. Accomplished and enthusiastic, he has achieved many remarkable things. What makes his stories more amazing is that these accomplishments in various fields are not just personal achievements, but more forms of contribution to his fellow men and to the world. Author Ralph DePalma, MD, FACS, has great stories to tell -- this memoir, Practicing and Other Stories, recounts them with humor and compassion.

Learn how and why a kid from the Bronx rose to prominence in medical administration, research and practice in this memoir. He shares his childhood experiences, education, and scientific contributions in vascular disease and the treatment of impotence. Accompany him as he goes about a general practice in the Bronx; as he remembers his training in New York; and as he relives medical exploits in Spain as a young air force officer, his residency training and practice in Cleveland, Reno, and Washington. He also describes his various emotions: the grief of losing someone, the fulfillment of helping those in need, the joys of discovery and happiness in teaching others.

Follow Dr. DePalma's busy life through this insightful autobiography which tells of failures as well as successes. He hopes that this book will inspire the young minds to make significant contributions to humanity, especially during a time of adversity, controversy and challenges to the medical profession. Candidly narrated, Practicing and Other Stories is not just a memoir but rather, an inspiration to anyone seeking to discover a true mission in life.

Practicing and Other Stories will be featured in the American Library Association Annual Book Exhibit in Chicago, IL on July 11-14, 2009. For more information, log on to www.Xlibris.com.
