Publication of change in the total number of shares and votes in Swedbank

Following completion of the rights issue of preference shares in Swedbank AB the
total number of shares and votes in Swedbank as of 30 January 2009 amounts to
773,060,118. Of the total number of shares in Swedbank, 515,373,412 are ordinary
shares and 257,686,706 are preference shares. Accordingly, all subscribed
preference shares in the rights issue have been registered with the Swedish
Companies Registration Office.
