We, the TIAA-CREF Investment Management New York, USA, a life insurance
company founded according to the laws of the State of New York, hereby
inform you that our proportion of voting rights in Krones AG,
Böhmerwaldstr. 5, 93073 Neutraubling, Germany, has fallen below the
threshold of 3 % on 23.12.2008, and per this date amounts to 2.85 %,
corresponding to 901.170 out of a total of 31.593.072 voting rights. All
voting rights are attributed to us according to § 22, Para. 1, Sentence 1,
No. 6 in conjunction with Sentence 1 WpHG and they arise from shares
previously held by the College Retirement Equities Fund, New York, USA.
