AAK opens new factory for speciality fats in Karlshamn

A new production line for the manufacturing of speciality fats for infant
formula opened today at AAK´s factory in Karlshamn, Sweden. AAK´s joint venture
with Israeli biotech company, Enzymotec, has successfully introduced a range of
fats within business area Food Ingredients, designed to meet the very specific
demands from infant formula producers.
To meet the growing demand from global customers, AAK has invested in a
significant expansion of production capacity. Construction is now completed and
production has started.
“This 30 million SEK investment is an important step of our growth strategy. The
new investment will give us a leading position in speciality fats for infant
nutrition and provide a platform for further growth in this segment. Sales are
increasing rapidly and we are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of
this project”, said AAK president and CEO Jerker Hartwall.

“The organic growth specialization strategy is based on strong product
development focused on, in particular, health promoting solutions. Selective
acquisitions are complementing this strategy, and the acquisition of Croda Food
Service in the area of Bakery and Rapsona (both business area Food Ingredients)
came into effect in 2008 with a total turnover of approx 300 million SEK” said
Jerker Hartwall.
