2nd Annual Arab American Comedy Show Plays in Dearborn On Friday, August 15

Show to Humanize the Arab American Experience Through Comedy

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 12, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The 2nd Annual Arab American Comedy Show will take place this Friday evening, August 15, 2008, 7:00pm, at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (Michael A. Guido Theater), 15801 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, Michigan, 48126.

The Arab American Comedy Show is a unique event where local Arab American actors, actresses, and comedians will take the stage at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in an effort to humanize the Arab experience through comedy. The evening includes sketch comedy and short films, written, produced, directed, and performed by Arab Americans.

"As a community oriented company, we are proud to be the presenter of this show which has been designed to build bridges among the various communities and demystify stereotypes surrounding Arab-Americans," stated Sonny Mandouh, Co-Producer of the show.

The show features an ensemble of local actors, including Dearborn's own Brian Mosallam. The Saturday Night Live-inspired sketches range in theme from "Samia's Cup," a coffee shop that dares to only sell Arabic ahewah (coffee), to an Arab American woman and her white husband hosting her very traditional Arab family for dinner in "Living It Up," a sequel to one of last year's favorite sketches. The evening will also feature a short film spoof similar to last year's award-winning short "CRIBZ."

Eighteen actors will take the stage to make a full house laugh and think about life in America from an Arab-American perspective. "The show promises to be accessible to both Arabs and non-Arabs alike; our hope is to show Arab American culture for all of its richness, beauty, and hilarity," said Mike Mosallam, Producer & Artistic Director of the show.
