The rebuilding project will significantly improve road connections from Pampalo Mine. The new road will especially ease the use of the heavy vehicles and will facilitate the exploitation of gold resources in Pampalo area. Particularly, the new road will make planned satellite mines more accessible and will make them economically more attractive. The renewed road is considered as a prerequisite of the utilisation of gold deposits (for example, Rämepuro, Muurinsuo and Hosko) in Karelian Gold Line. Road works are carried out by Finnish Road Administration. During the first stage, expected to be ready in week 35, the road will be rebuilt between Hattuvaara and Pampalo Crossing. Uner the second stage, the road work will continue from Pampalo Crossing to Pihlajavaara, close to Hosko gold deposit. The whole project is anticipated to be ready in October 2008. The budget of the road rebuilding is 730 000 € (6,8 MSEK)."After the rebuilding of the road has been finished the road can be used for heavy transportations during all seasons.
