Brooks Automation Announces Scholarship Program Recipients

Program Provides $75,000 in Awards to College Bound Children of Company Employees


CHELMSFORD, Mass., June 20, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Brooks Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq:BRKS) announced today the names of students who have received awards as part of the Brooks Annual Scholarship Program. The Program is open to all children of Brooks Automation's full and part-time domestic employees. This year, the program expanded the number of $5,000 scholarships from five to fifteen. Applicants can be either high school seniors or currently enrolled students in an accredited College or University. Each of the 2008 recipients was selected based on their strong academic performance, a written essay, and their involvement in extracurricular activities. Scholarship Program Administrator, Inc., a third party administrator, has the responsibility of reviewing all applications to determine which students receive awards under Brooks Automation's Annual Scholarship program.

At an award ceremony hosted by the Company, Robert J. Lepofsky, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brooks, noted, "In today's highly competitive global marketplace higher education is an essential element for success. The fifteen Brooks Automation Annual Scholarship Program recipients for the 2008/2009 academic year are: Erica Andrade from Londonderry, NH, Southern New Hampshire University majoring in psychology; Sarah Barrett from Middleboro, MA, school is undecided, majoring in biology; Megan Delyanis from Allston, MA, Boston University majoring in marketing; Heather Graham from Grafton, MA, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute majoring in architecture; Katherine Kang from Nashua, NH, University of Texas majoring in accounting; Ryan Lasante from Littleton, MA, Worcester Polytechnic Institute majoring in computer science; Craig Martin from Manchester, NH, University of New Hampshire majoring in engineering; Kelsey Martin from Merrimack, NH, Simmons College majoring in education; Kelleigh O'Neil from Westford, MA, Springfield College majoring in athletic training; Jessica Raffaelo from Lowell, MA, University of Massachusetts majoring in criminal justice; Matthew Samperi from Boxborough, MA, Pennsylvania State University majoring in engineering; Kelly Shortsleeves from Fitchburg, MA, Clark University majoring in chemistry; Kenneth Underwood from Chelmsford, MA, Texas A&M University majoring in computer science; Lyubov Konopatskaya from Portland, OR, Portland State University majoring in dentistry; and Melissa McMurphy from Happy Valley, OR, Oregon State University majoring in business.
