Xandros Debuts 'BridgeWays for Red Hat' at CeBIT Hanover

New BridgeWays Management Console for RHEL With Automated Workflow Takes Aim at Windows Server Market

HANOVER, GERMANY--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - CeBIT -- Xandros, the leading provider of intuitive Linux solutions and mixed-environment management tools, and parent of Scalix, Inc., the leading e-mail server and solutions company, today announced the preview of the all new Xandros BridgeWays Management Console for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The Management Console showcased at CeBIT in Hanover and available for download from the Xandros web site brings foolproof graphical administration of Red Hat servers to system administrators who may have Windows Server skill sets, but no prior Linux experience. The workflow automation technology, developed for the award-winning Xandros Server, has been adapted to the administration of RHEL. Multiple Red Hat servers and services are integrated into a single "Managed Community" that can be remotely administered from supported Red Hat servers, or from any Windows XP or Vista desktop.

"We began the BridgeWays project two years ago with the vision that centralized graphical management tools with workflow automation would help spur the growth of Linux servers in areas where Windows servers were predominant. After a fast rise to about 20 percent of the market, the worldwide curve of Linux server installs has since flattened, while the Windows server share has risen to as much as 70 percent, underscoring the need to make Linux servers easy to administer," said Andreas Typaldos, Xandros CEO. "There are now a huge number of businesses that can benefit from inexpensive and robust Linux solutions, once you eliminate the need for in-house Linux expertise or costly outside consultants. Today, with our coupling of rock solid Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Xandros BridgeWays management tools, there is no better time to employ Linux servers to solve your IT needs."

Xandros BridgeWays Management Console provides centralized user management, system monitoring, and event viewing for administrators using 32- and 64-bit versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.6 or 5.1. The BridgeWays Managed Community enables the integrated management and administration of a host of Red Hat services, including high availability and load balancing clustering, DHCP, DNS, file, firewall, FTP, print, proxy, routing, SELinux, SSH, storage manager, virtual machine manager, Web, and Windows networking.

Showcased at CeBIT

The preview of the Xandros BridgeWays Management Console for Red Hat is showcased at the Xandros booth at CeBIT Hanover, March 4-9, Hall/Halle 5, Linuxpark, Booth/Stand G47. The unsupported preview release is also available as a free download from the Xandros web site at www.xandros.com. The full BridgeWays for Red Hat rollout is slated for the second quarter of 2008, with support for Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to follow.
