The First of Long Island Corporation Announces the Election of John T. Lane to the Board of Directors


GLEN HEAD, N.Y., Nov. 1, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The First of Long Island Corporation (Nasdaq:FLIC) has announced that John T. Lane has been elected in accordance with the Corporation's bylaws to serve as a Class I director effective November 1, 2007. He has also been elected to serve as a director of the Corporation's wholly-owned subsidiary, The First National Bank of Long Island.

Mr. Lane is a retired managing Director of J.P. Morgan. During his twenty six year career with J.P. Morgan, he served in leadership positions in Corporate Finance, Private Clients, Credit and Investor Services. In addition to serving as Chairman of J.P. Morgan Florida, he was also Director of J.P. Morgan California, Morgan Shareholder Services, and Morgan Futures and served as a member of the firm's Credit Policy Committee.

Since his retirement, Mr. Lane is an active private investor and consultant. He is currently a Director of The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, HealthCare Trustees of New York State, Winthrop University Hospital and ROTACARE. He has also served on the Boards of UFJ Trust Company, Vytra Health Care (Vice Chairman), Acme Metals, Medix Resources (Chairman), Biospecifics Technologies, South Nassau Communities Hospital and New Island Hospital.

Mr. Lane is a cum laude economics honors graduate of Dartmouth College and a graduate from the University of Michigan where he earned a Master's Degree with honors.

Mr. Lane was a Medical Service Corp. Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division Ft Bragg, N.C. and the 6th Convalescent Center, Republic of Viet Nam.

Mr. Lane resides in Garden City, New York.
