OSLO, Norway, July 08, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- On 21 May this year, Telenor entered into an agreement to acquire the Swedish broadband provider Bredbandsbolaget. The transaction was approved by the Swedish competition authorities at the end of June, and closing was conducted during 8 July."We welcome Bredbandsbolaget's customers and employees to the Telenor family of companies," said Morten Karlsen Soerby, Executive Vice President of Telenor. "We look forward to working with Bredbandsbolaget to provide broadband services to a constantly growing demand among Swedish households and companies."
Bredbandsbolaget is Sweden's second largest provider of broadband services. The company has more than 340,000 broadband customers, and a rapidly growing number of customers use its voice and TV services provided over broadband.
