Governor Schwarzenegger in San Diego to Dedicate Vital Transmission Link Before Summer Power Peak

New Line Will Save Millions of Dollars in Lower Electricity Costs

MEDIA ADVISORY, July 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) --

WHAT: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will join San Diego Gas
& Electric Chairman and CEO Ed Guiles and California
Public Utilities President Michael Peevey for the dedication
         of SDG&E's Miguel-Mission 2 transmission line. Using
innovative engineering and construction, SDG&E completed
work on this key transmission line in time to put the line
in service before the summer peak electricity demand.
State regulators and local elected officials will be on
hand for the ceremonial "flipping of the switch" to mark
         the dedication of the line.

WHY: Energizing this key transmission link helps reduce
congestion on the local power grid and also helps
improve the reliability of the statewide electricity
system. With this line in service, Southern California
consumers will save millions of dollars in energy costs
for customers, because it allows SDG&E to bring in as
much as 400 megawatts of more affordable power from
         outside the San Diego region.
