Southwestern Medical Solutions to Develop Prepackaged Labguard Accucheck Kits for In-Home Diagnostic Testing

TAMPA, Fla., July 15, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Southwestern Medical Solutions, Inc. (Other OTC:SWMD) is pleased to announce that it is proceeding immediately with plans to develop economic, easy-to-use, diagnostic testing kits for in-home testing for the presence of a wide range of substances, including Cholesterol, Diabetes Diseases, Alcohol Use, Allergy/Mold, Drug Use, Hazardous Chemicals, HIV/Aids, Hormones, Infertility, Menopause, Thyroid and Tobacco Use.

An offshoot of the Company's cutting edge on-site immunoassay testing technology (targeted at the explosive on-site diagnostics and testing market), the new in-home testing kit represents exciting consumer market potential as an innovative means for anyone wishing to monitor certain aspects of their own health, or that of their loved ones. For example, during pregnancy, a woman may wish to monitor her blood sugar levels, which can help to diagnose gestational diabetes. Blood sugar levels will be easily gauged using the in-home Labguard Accucheck(tm) self-administered testing kit. Currently available in-home testing kits are extremely costly; yet do not offer the consumer the range of testing options that Southwestern Medical Solutions intends to encompass in its more economical in-home kit.

Richard Powell, Vice-President of New Product Development, noted, "In addition to significantly advancing on-site specimen collection & analysis technology, thus making large screening programs safer and more efficient, it now appears that Labguard Accucheck(tm) technology also has exciting potential in a variety of other areas. Management intends to pursue these various applications of its technology as quickly as possible in order to realize the full corporate benefit of that technology."

Southwestern Medical Has The Solution - The Company's proprietary Labguard Accucheck(tm) on-site collection & diagnostic testing technology represents a revolutionary approach that ensures greater safety and convenience for diagnostic testing administrators at an attractive, market-competitive price. Currently in the final prototype stage, Labguard Accucheck(tm) has already attracted expressions of strong interest from several major medical-device distribution companies, both in the U.S. and abroad.
