God's Chosen People -- New Book Explains How God Chooses Select Apostles from Churches

CHANDLER, Okla., July 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Apostle Lydia R. Smith was attending church services in Kingfisher, Okla. when she was struck by a revelation that changed her life. God spoke to her and assured her that she was one of a chosen people meant to guide others toward him, a role she describes in her new book, God's Remnant (now available through AuthorHouse).

For years Smith looked to the church to help her work for God's vision, but she was getting frustrated. As she sat in the church that day, God spoke to Smith. "Lydia, I have never used the entire church to carry out my perfect plan. I have always used a remnant. You have been looking to the entire church for the help you need to carry out the vision I have given you. That is how I work. Within every church, there is always a remnant of people," she writes.

Throughout history, God has always focused his attention on those left standing, those who weather the storm and still hold on to their faith, she writes. They are the "remnants" of the world, the people who will go to any lengths to spread the message. Once Smith realized that God had made her a remnant, the longtime disappointment and frustration she experienced was replaced with freedom.

Through Scripture passages and real-life anecdotes, Smith illustrates what it means to be an instrument of God. She elaborates on her role as one of God's remnants and encourages others to recognize that they, too, can join the fight.

To fulfill her desire to reveal God's truth to the world, Smith led an international effort in promoting God's word. In 1999, she founded Iron Pillar Ministries, Inc., and today she oversees 114 churches in East Africa. She also founded Iron Pillar Ministry Bible Training Institute to instruct leaders in the ministry. In 2002, she opened Agapeland Learning Center, where children from six weeks to 11 years old receive religious training. Her "vision of everlasting hope" is the driving force in her life.
