My Weird Life: Adolescent author debuts with exciting short stories of adventure

AUBURN, Ala., Oct. 27, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In two delightful children's stories for readers of all ages, author William B. Bennett has captured the mannerisms and imaginations of two boys in a way very few authors can replicate. Why? Bennett, the author of My Weird Life (now available through 1stBooks), is 11. With his new book, he offers two stories of adventure and discovery that provide unique insight into the inquisitive mind of an adolescent boy.

In "My Weird Life," Christopher Blanton Juniper is a typical American boy. He's concerned with school matters, hanging out with best friend Rob, and, lately, with his strange new neighbor, Mr. Adams, who seems to be up to something in his backyard shed. One night, the suspense becomes too much. Mr. Adam seems to be working on something big, but what?

When Christopher and Rob sneak over to figure out what's going on, Mr. Adams catches them. They make a run for it. However, Rob is badly hurt in the process and must be hospitalized. Distraught and feeling guilty and ashamed, Christopher runs away from home. Along his journey, he meets a strange but fascinating character, Chi Chi, who teaches him a thing or two about life.

In "The Big Adventure," Bennett takes readers on an intergalactic adventure. The story features a curious boy and his dog, who encounter a spacecraft. Much to their surprise, they are taken to the planet Nerktar. There, they discover many strange things; however, they also realize that Nerktar isn't all that different from Earth.

Bennett attends sixth grade at Drake Middle School in Auburn, Ala. In addition to writing and illustrating, Bennett enjoys golf, tennis, karate and playing with his pets.
