Heartland Oil and Gas Enrolls in Investrend Shareholder Empowerment Program

NEW YORK, May 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Heartland Oil and Gas Corp. (OTCBB:HOGC) has enrolled in the unique shareholder empowerment platform administered by Investrend Communications, Inc., a provider of financial intelligence programs.

Benchmark analyst coverage will be initiated by Investrend Research analyst J. Damien Kolb, and the company will also be participating in Investrend Broadcast's Company of the Week(tm) webcast in partnership with ON24. Investrend Research is located on the web at http://www.investrendresearch.com

Heartland Oil & Gas began operations in the spring of 2001. In February, 2003, Heartland commenced its first coalbed methane pilot program at its acreage in the Forest City Basin, Kansas. The program consists of four new wells surrounding the company's Engelke 16-18 discovery well. The Engelke well was drilled by Heartland in the fall of 2001 and encountered 57 feet of coal, one of the thickest coal sections in the Forest City Basin. The well was logged and tested for permeability and was cased as a potential coalbed producer.

Using its proprietary mapping of the area and results from earlier drilling, Heartland has acquired a dominant position in the thickest part of the coal fairway in the Forest City Basin. Heartland has acquired leasehold interests in approximately 165,000 acres in the Forest City Basin, which based on an 80 acre spacing is expected to provide over 2,000 drill locations.

Since Heartland initiated its CBM project in 2001 the Forest City/Cherokee basin fairway has experienced dramatically increased activity. There is existing coalbed methane production in the southern and eastern parts of the fairway and there are a number of pilot programs underway throughout the basin. Other Company's active in this emerging CBM play include Layne Christensen, Devon Energy, Calpine Energy, Suncor and most recently Evergreen Resources.
