Nokia has a unique capability to roll-out TETRA system for one million users in less than one year

The capacity of a Nokia TETRA mobile digital radio communication system can be scaled for over one million users in just one year's time, it was revealed today. Uniquely, Nokia TETRA infrastructure can be rolled-out nationwide with such a capacity and without losing any of the required features for public safety organisations.

"Nokia can provide a complete nationwide TETRA network to one million users within one year," said Hans Holmberg, Vice President, Professional Mobile Radio, Nokia Networks, "This unique capability is based on Nokia's extensive experience of successful network roll-outs and the scalability of the advanced Nokia TETRA architecture."

In addition, Nokia is taking security in mobile radio communications to higher levels to satisfy the user organisations' demands. In order to further enhance security, Nokia has implemented encryption with dynamic encryption keys (DCK) to ensure highest operational reliability.

The Nokia TETRA system is the only mobile radio communication system in the world to provide the required communication functionalities such as group communications for demanding public safety environments within a nationwide network that consists of several switches and hundreds of base stations.

The requirements for seamless functionality has led Nokia to develop the best-in-market open application interfaces for TETRA. Together with its partners Nokia offers unbeatable integration capabilities with various systems.
