Kemira starts fertilizer production in China

KEMIRA STARTS UP FERTILIZER PRODUCTION IN CHINA

Kemira Compound Fertiliser (KCF) has started the production of fertilizers in its NPK plant in Zhanjiang, P.R. China. The NPK plant has a production capacity of 200 000 metric tons per year.

Kemira’s target is to increase its presence in the fertilizer market in China through the KCF Joint Venture operation. The plant is located very close to important agricultural areas and will focus on specialty crop production in the Guangdong Province and on Hainan Island. The Chinese fertilizer market is developing fast, and the demand for new programmes for balanced fertilization is increasing rapidly. The KCF plant is well placed to serve these needs and has the ability to produce fertilizers grades suitable for these programmes with high product quality. The Chinese government has confirmed their policy of highest possible self-sufficiency in agriculture and related industry.

KCF was established in 1998 as a joint venture between Guangdong Zhanhua Enterprise Group Ltd of Zhanjiang, Finnfund of Finland and Kemira. It is located in the city of Zhanjiang in the Guangdong province. The plant is also close to the port of Zhanjiang.

KCF owns and operates an NPK plant that has been brought up to modern standards by an extensive revamp. KCF will also operate a phosphoric acid plant based on a rent agreement.

The revamp was carried out by using Kemira’s technology and carried out by Kemira Engineering. The main contractors were the Tenth Construction Company of Sinopec and Fourth Harbour Company.
