Minitab Express Adds New Statistical Tools and the "Make Similar" Feature

Latest update to Minitab Express introduces new features and enhancements in preparation for fall semester courses.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., July 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Minitab Express 1.3, an update to the most recent version of this statistical software package for introductory statistics, adds new data analysis tools and graph editing features.

"We're excited to continually add new features and enhancements to our latest statistical software for Mac and PC based on customer feedback," says Michelle Paret, product marketing manager.
Minitab Express enables instructors to seamlessly teach across platforms, giving students greater flexibility, and the emphasis on introductory statistics allows both instructors and students to focus on concepts rather than software.

With its user-friendly interface and intuitive menus designed to complement leading textbooks, students can use Minitab Express to quickly analyze and interpret their data—benefits that continue in the newest version, which includes additional statistics, enhanced graph editing capabilities, and the new "Make Similar" feature.

Seven new nonparametric tests and three new variance tests provide more options for hypothesis testing. Enhanced graph editing features enable you to display histogram bins using midpoints or cutpoints, and choose between frequency, percent and density scales; easily switch between counts or percents after creating a bar chart; add a connect line between points on a scatterplot; transpose graph axes on boxplots; and more.

The "Make Similar" function retains your most recent dialog settings and graph edits. With one click, you can quickly return to any dialog, change your inputs and settings, and generate new output. Students can use this new feature to instantly calculate various probabilities, run a series of t-tests, or recreate existing graphs.

"With the new statistical features and graph improvements, we're meeting our goal to provide professors with the tools they need to teach introductory statistics," Paret says.

Instructors also have access to new lesson plans for teaching core statistical concepts using Minitab Express or Minitab 17. Class outlines, instructor notes, exercises, answer keys, and Minitab data sets are included.

The update is free for Minitab Express users. More information about Minitab Express, including pricing and licensing and a free 30-day trial version, and the new lesson plans are available at www.minitab.com/academic.
