FISHERS, Ind., July 22, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- An Indianapolis-based American Arbitration Association (AAA) arbitration panel has ordered Oxford Financial Group, Ltd. to pay damages of more than $2.2 million to Reid Hospital & Health Care Services after a financial advisor with the investment firm failed to execute a sale involving millions of dollars worth of investments for Reid Hospital in a timely manner.
Reid Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital based in Richmond, Indiana; it was represented by the securities arbitration law firm of Maddox Hargett & Caruso, P.C.
"In issuing this arbitration award, Reid Hospital received all of the losses that it sustained as a result of the negligence on the part of Oxford Financial Group, Ltd.," says Mark E. Maddox of Maddox Hargett & Caruso, P.C.
Reid Hospital initially provided specific written instructions to an investment advisor with Oxford Financial to move forth with a request to sell various securities investments in its portfolio on Aug. 1, 2011. The request, however, wasn't actually fulfilled until 12 days later on Aug. 12.
Maddox says the win for Reid Hospital "sends a clear message to investors that, even when they entrust their assets to one of the largest investment advisory firms in the country, they have various alternatives to pursue potential claims if their investment advisors don't adhere to all of their obligations."
Maddox Hargett & Caruso, P.C. is an "AV" rated law firm with offices in Indianapolis, New York City and Cleveland. Its attorneys represent individual and institutional investors and the financial losses they incur in connection to their investment advisors and broker/dealers .
