Morningstar ("Dr. Andy") is a graduate of the Spine Research Institute of San Diego's (SRISD) "Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology" program. The program educates chiropractors about the latest auto injury treatments with a special focus on whiplash injuries and mild brain trauma. Dr. Andy is using the program's teaching to enhance the auto injury treatment options available at his Center.

Chiropractor Dr. Andrew L. Morningstar ("Dr. Andy") announced that he has completed the SRISD's "Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology" program. Designed by Dr. Arthur Croft, the program is dedicated to advancing the treatment of auto accident injuries through a deeper understanding of the nervous system, brain trauma, and spinal trauma.

"Chiropractic care is a dynamic, evolving field, and I am a firm believer that new scientific developments must be fused into our treatment protocols," said Dr. Andy. "I recently completed Dr. Croft's 'Whiplash and Mild Traumatic Brain Treatment' program. Thanks to this cutting-edge program, I am proud to offer Glen Carbon neck pain and back pain patients the latest care."

Auto accident injuries affect millions of Americans each year. Whiplash is the most common injury. According to Dr. Andy, this injury can cause trauma to the upper cervical spine, lead to neck pain, upper back pain, shoulder pain, and even migraine headaches.

Patients who have sustained whiplash injuries may also experience a herniated disc in the lower back. A seatbelt is a life-saving restraint, but it may also prevent the lower body from moving naturally in the event of a car crash. Consequently, a disc in the lower back may bulge or herniate, putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. This can cause a radiating sensation in the legs and low back and is known as sciatica.

"Many of my patients suffer from neck pain, sciatica pain and migraines," said Dr. Andy. "While medication can provide temporary relief, as long as a misalignment persists, patients will continue to experience pain. Chiropractic care focuses on the underlying cause for injury. The techniques I use provide long-lasting pain relief."

In addition to spinal adjustments, Dr. Andy also recommends corrective exercises to restore proper posture to the body.

"By combining chiropractic care with the latest posture rehabilitation treatments, I can help patients return to health as quickly and safely as possible," said Dr. Andy.

Dr. Andy stressed that prompt treatment is essential for helping the body heal after an auto injury. According to Dr. Andy, prompt diagnosis of any injuries helps prevent the build-up of scar tissue and reduce the risk of chronic pain.

Dr. Andy is a graduate of Dr. Crofts, SRISD, Whiplash and Brain Injury Traumatology program and from Logan College of Chiropractic. Morningstar Spinal Correction Center treats auto injury and personal injury patients from the Glen Carbon, Edwardsville, Maryville and Troy communities.
