CompuMed Contracts With Correctional Facilities and Wexford Health Sources

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CompuMed, Inc. (Pink Sheets:CMPD), www.compumed.net, a telemedicine and medical informatics company, has secured contract extensions to provide its signature CardioGram™ electrocardiogram (ECG) remote interpretation system and over-read services for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (OKDOC) and Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) at selected facilities throughout both states. The OKDOC rents 22 CardioGram systems, and the ADC now owns 59 CardioGram systems after buying 14 more in June, 2011. CompuMed also signed a multi-year contract to provide services to Wexford Health Sources at its Illinois correctional locations.

Maurizio Vecchione, CompuMed's CEO, said, "Correctional facility budgets are shrinking as are other state services. CompuMed has demonstrated its commitment to helping correctional facilities nationwide reduce costs and increase the quality of care by using telemedicine. Our remote cardiac screening enables facilities to access specialists in cardiology without costly patient transfers or in-house staff."

He added that CompuMed's customers can immediately engage one of CompuMed's on-call cardiologists to over read the computerized ECG interpretation. These over-reads are delivered to attending physicians at the point-of-care, providing expert interpretations when data is ambiguous or difficult to interpret.

CompuMed customers are typically correctional facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, occupational health clinics, research facilities and physician offices. New markets being targeted are athletic screenings for school sports and juvenile justice facilities.
