Telelogic DOORS Named Requirements Management Market Share Leader in Latest Standish Group Report

MALMO, Sweden and IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) --

Leadership Position Maintained for Sixth Year on Robust Maintenance
Revenue and Strong Presence in Markets Beyond Software

Telelogic (Stockholm:TLOG) (Other OTC:TGIAF), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, today announced that Telelogic DOORS(R), the company's state-of-the-art requirements management tool, has been named market share leader by influential industry analyst firm, The Standish Group. According to the report, "What Are Your Requirements? 2003," DOORS has a 32 percent share of the requirements management market, based on license, maintenance and training revenue.

The Standish Group defines requirements management as the process of identifying, documenting, communicating, tracking and managing project requirements as well as changes to those requirements. The firm also believes that requirements management is not a point in time occurrence, but must be ongoing and stay in lockstep with the development process, especially iterative rapid development.

"Telelogic, with their DOORS product, continues to hold a leadership position at this time which can be directly attributed to two things: continued maintenance revenues which greatly exceed the industry average and a strong presence in markets beyond the software industry," said Karen Larkowski, Executive Vice President of The Standish Group, "Telelogic has a very impressive customer list including the likes of BAE SYSTEMS, DaimlerChrysler, Raytheon, Motorola, Lockheed Martin and many more. The company has a strong presence in many vertical markets beyond the software requirements management space. This allows them to continue to maintain growth even in light of the troubling state of the software market today."

"This is the second time in two consecutive quarters that Telelogic DOORS has been named market leader based on either market share or functionality by a leading analyst firm," said Anders Lidbeck, President and CEO of Telelogic. "More than a point solution, we see requirements management and DOORS as the foundation for the entire development process in many vertical industries, which is one reason why DOORS offers more integrations with leading development environments than any other requirements management tool."

"We find that, on average, only 54 percent of the originally defined features of a project are delivered. Even more troubling is the realization that of those features that are delivered -- a full 45 percent are never used," said Larkowski. "Quite often the problem is rooted in poorly defined requirements. If the people managing the project can't get a handle on the basic system requirements, it is absolutely doomed to fail. This problem is only compounded in today's dynamic world of application development where the requirements are not static but are constantly changing."
