Intentia: Movex Collaboration Applications Thoroughly Change Service and Maintenance for Transportation Business

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 5, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intentia International AB (publ) (XSSE:INTB) announces today that the new integrated functionality in Movex Collaboration Applications creates exciting new possibilities within the service and maintenance sector. Movex Collaboration Applications make it practical for companies to implement new concepts and become more effective in a way that was never before possible.

Intentia has expanded Movex, using its early investment in the aviation industry, with its strict operability and safety requirements as a basis for further development. Movex Collaboration Applications now include comprehensive solutions for service and maintenance processes and business for the entire transportation industry.

Intentia has customers throughout the segment, including shipping, road, rail and aviation companies. Some of our customers are: DCN International, Techno Service Nederland, Renfe and SAS.

The transportation sector is currently undergoing a change that is spreading globally. The branch is being deregulated at an increasingly fast pace. International collaborations are creating new constellations, among both companies and authorities. Another trend is the increased concentration on core operations, which is resulting in extensive outsourcing of a variety of functions.

"Because of its technical architecture, Movex is perhaps the most dynamic system in the world. We've developed Movex with the understanding that we live in an ever-changing world. A modern system should not be an obstacle to business development, it should instead create the right conditions for change," said Hakan Rosvall, IAC manager for Intentia's Industry Application Center MRO.

Movex Collaboration Applications were launched on Sept. 25,2001. With this new version of Movex, Intentia is now delivering on its vision of the collaborative economy. Increased collaboration within companies will lead to revolutionary gains in efficiency. Intentia compares the effect of collaborative business processes with the event of containers being introduced into the transportation industry. "With the introduction of loading and unloading via containers, the shipping industry saw a 98 percent increase in efficiency, when compared to handling single consignments. We are at the brink of a paradigm shift. The power that collaborative business processes can offer is almost mind-boggling," commented Johan Berg, President, Intentia Research and Development.

The launch of Movex Collaboration Applications provides just the right conditions for implementing ideas such as Total Service Concept (TSC), a business concept that is a matter of survival for service and maintenance companies. TSC provides customers guaranteed operability by offering them a range of material, engineering and maintenance services. "The secret to successful TSC is using collaboration, internal as well as external, to create efficient planning, execution and follow-up. Movex Collaboration Applications is the most modern integrated system on the market today able to meet these demanding requirements," explains Hakan Rosvall.

The new functionality in Movex Collaboration Applications includes integrated solutions for: Customer Order Management-supports the Total Service Concept (TSC) within material services such as sales, exchange and leasing, as well as services for engineering, guarantees, repairs and maintenance. A complete and fully integrated planning solution that consists of Service Requirements Planner (SRP)-- for calculating demand, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), MSP (Multi-Site Planner) and APP (Advanced Production Planner). Together, these planning applications optimize all work requirements such as material, labor/skill, tools and purchases, including subcontract management. The entire planning process is consequently driven by the core operation plan (which could be a vehicle operation timetable) and customer orders. One important feature is the ability to merge the core operation plan and maintenance plan into one common plan.

Diagnostic Management -- supports reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), reporting of equipment status and failures as well as condition monitoring, reliability calculations and monitoring trends.

Corporate Portal -- is a powerful, role-based instrument that makes it possible to integrate different applications. Corporate Portal enables customers and/or employees to view, for example, all data for equipment, including the complete history, present status and forecasted maintenance activities.
